was already singing with a local quartet founded by his
father. At 16, he was producing his own tracks and those of
other local artists.
Foundation
Canton later relocated to Atlanta to attend Morehouse
College and began singing with the school's world-renown
glee club touring the world and performing for the likes of
Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, Dr. Bobby Jones, and the late
Ray Charles. This experience established the foundation for
a promising career and opened the door to a wide range of
opportunities.
Albums
Canton Jones recorded his first solo project in 2003. An
independent release "20 Yrs. 3 Mths. & 12 Days", soon to be
followed by The Password in 2004. Canton made his national
debut with Love Jones in summer 2005. His music is a close
mix between R&B and rap. Canton Jones is a R&B singer, but a
MC as well.
Awards
With two Grammy nominations under his belt, a Stellar Award
nomination both in 2004, and a Gospel Choice Award (2005) to
his credit, the only thing that might take you by surprise
is his unwavering humility to God and the quiet confidence
of someone who knows the tide is turning his way.

He has featured on the first volume of Taking The Gospel To
The Streets (2004) with the track You And Me. The album was
nominated at the 47th Grammy Awards for Best Gospel Rock
Album.
Compilation
In 2006 Canton Jones and Mr. Del with his roster of the Holy
South label teamed up to release "From Memphis to ATL".
Charting
His 2008 album "Kingdom Business" debuted in it's first week
at #3 on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums (issue date
2008-02-23). |
