have been rerecorded for the album "Chronicles : The Story
So Far" in 2003.
Members
The members of GreenJade are 3rd Son, DJ Secret Weapon,
Judah, Practical Wizdom and Wei the Gatekeeper. Logikal
after ten years left the crew and his place is taken by DJ
Secret Weapon. They describe their music as tru-skool.
Evolution
GreenJade originally began as a dance troop under the name
“Poetic Justice” in the early 1990’s and became the “Green
Jade Sect” in 1992, the name suggested by Wei, inspired by a
Kung Fu movie. Within 2 years the crew grew to over 25
members, but personal issues with members in the group was
beginning to lead them towards violence until one of the
members involved became a Christian.
Dialogue
This began a dialogue that affected the whole crew and ended
with 15 members also becoming Christians, preferring to use
their talents to promote the positive. In 1996, GreenJade
was reborn and refocused; dropping the Sect, the definition
of their name had also changed.
Nominations
GreenJade stepped down from the MOBO Awards 2008 after being
nominated in the Best Gospel category. The group wrote a
letter to officials of the Music of Black Origin Awards
organisation to be removed from the nomination’s list. The
group said it's request was granted by officials. Talking to
UB1, group member Wizdom said being nominated for a MOBO
award in the Gospel category "caused a concern" because of
the sensitive school work the group does through the Gunz
Down community project. The project involves going into
schools, some different in religious beliefs, and addressing
the issue of gun and knife crime. "We are honoured to be
considered for a nomination but it may conflict with our
work in schools. We don’t want anything getting in the way
of that," explained Wizdom.
Albums
A new project entitled "Life As We Know It" is released in
2008 through their own label Jade Eye Knight Records.

with Sam119 comic characters, a documentary on the Gunz Down
schools tour, song lyrics, an information pack, and related
web links.
Gunz Down is the title track of a national anti-guns and
knife crime schools tour which is fronted by GreenJade and
supported by XLP, The Message, Operation Trident and Mothers
Against Guns. The tour commenced on Monday 26th, June 2006
with further rounds in October 2006, January 2007 and March
2007.
