foursome. In 1993 the group consisted of the Jamaican born
brothers Yodared (Ivor Myers) and Myntric (Sean Myers) and
Vex da Vortex (Sean Pollard) with it's latest addition
Mondo McCann. The three of them studied at the Virginia
State University, but Sean Myers studied at the Virginia
Union University.
Rapping
The Boogiemonsters began rapping at shows around campus and,
after winning first place at Howard University's Hip-Hop
Convention, they recorded a demo and began promoting it
around New York. EMI Records signed the four MCs for 1
million dollars and 8 albums.
Question
But while recording their first album a fellow student
mentioned a question "What day do you think the Sabbath
is?”. This question led them to study the bible and changed
their lives completely. They used their debut album to show
people a part of the gospel.
Serve
Eventually Ivor and Sean Myers left the stage to serve God.
They felt they couldn't represent God's calling anymore
with a name like the Boogiemonsters and the hip hop scene
that came with it, despite their success of their first
album Riders of the Storm. Ivor Myers is a pastor at Power
of the Lamb Ministries and Sean Myers a youth pastor in
Virginia.
God Sound
The Boogiemonsters continued as Vex Da Vortex and Mondo
McCann for one last album called God Sound in 1997.
Guest appearances
Vex still made some guest appearances afterwards on albums.
