experience as a youth included a dad whose family was
heavily into selling and/or using drugs, parents who
divorced when Damon was 13, and the tragedy of his dad being
killed in a car accident the same year.
Rap
To express how he felt and what he saw, Damon used rap and
art. While being an underground rapper, Damon was ultimately
invited to a church service by a friend, Verbs, formerly
known as Knowdaverbs. This served as Damon's introduction
to Christian rap and Damon gave his life to the Lord.
Aspiring
After moving to Chicago to attend school on an art
scholarship, Damon became friends with another aspiring
rapper/producer/artist Kanye West. There, he developed his
unique usage of words and a newfound boldness in Christ.
Proclaiming
Currently, Damon attends Living Word Christian Center, one
of most influential churches in Illinois and he's truly
developed a strong conviction to not compromise proclaiming
the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Reality Rap
About his music, Damon says, "What I do is 'reality rap'.
Although I hung around thugs, drugs and gang-bangers
before salvation, I can't talk about being one because I'm
not. I may not have had the ardest-life, but I talk about
my experiences and my challenges and how God helps me deal
with them I offer a solution that God showed me in a way
that people can relate to and apply to themselves"
