Releases: | [The Real] [The Real (re-release)] [Real Talk : The Mixtape Volume 1] [Secular Stress] | Info: | Realistikk grew up in Southern New Jersey. She didn't grow
up in an area where the hip hop culture was easily
accessible, so she went out of her way to New York to see
shows whenever she could.
Recording
She listened to hip hop for years, but after seeing the MCs
freestyling and performing live on stage, she decided that
this is what she wanted to do with her life. Realistikk
started writing and recording songs on a 4-Track at the age
of 20.
California
She sent some of her recorded verses to a friend on the West
Coast, 4 Months of Winter from the Acheeka Tribe, and he
featured Realistikk on his first solo album: Acheeka Tribe
- Music For Musicians (1999).
This album had the underground wanting to hear more music
from Realistikk. In 2001, she moved to California to persue
her dreams and record her album. She would return from the
Bay Area to New Jersey in April 2007.
Debut album
Because she's lived on both coasts, she's heard a lot of
different styles of music. The different influences and
musical styles are evident on her debut album, Secular
Stress (2002).
Shelved
Realistikk and Sev Statik made an album together: "Word
Format" (2004). This project was shelved. Sev Statik would
like to re-record the tracks, as he states: "Actually, she
came to Albany, New York and I recorded everything she had
for this project and was going to lay my vocals after she
left, but I decided that we should do it again and record
together at the same time... song to song."
New project
Realistikk has released her sophomore recording entitled
"The Real" in January 2007. On October 6th, 2007 it was
announced the label End of Earth Records will re-release
this album.
