| Info: | TobyMac (Toby McKeehan) started out as part of the famous
rockband DC talk. He is a producer as well as co-founder of
Gotee Records. Toby was the last member of the band to
release a solo album.
Momentum
His album Momentum came out in November 2001 and got a
follow up in the form of a remix album called "Re:Mix
Momentum" in 2003.
Success
TobyMac makes a blend of rap, rock and funk. With his
crossover sound he has gained much success by reaching the
mainstream christian market.
Awards 2002: GMA
In 2002 TobyMac received 2 Dove awards at the GMA Awards
ceremony, one for "Momentum" (2001) in the category "Hip
Hop/Rap album of the Year". And he won an award for the
track "Somebody's Watching Me" in the category "Rap/Hip Hop
Recorded Song of the Year".
Awards 2005: GMA
In 2005 he would win another award in the category "Hip
Hop/Rap album of the Year" for his album "Welcome to Diverse
City" (2004).
Nominations 2008: GMA
He was nominated at the 39th GMA Dove Awards 2008 in the
category:

Awards 2008: GMA
In 2008 TobyMac won 3 awards at the 39th Annual GMA Dove
Awards: One in the category "Short Form Music Video of the
Year" for "Boomin'" of the album "Portable Sounds" (2007).
Another award in the category "Artist of the Year" and
"Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year" for the album
"Portable Sounds" (2007). The award ceremony was held on
April 23rd, 2008.
Nominations 2008: Grammy
Nominations are also received at the 50th Annual Grammy
Awards 2008 in the category Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel
Album for: "Portable Sounds" (2007) and in the category Best
Gospel Song for "Made To Love" also from the album "Portable
Sounds" (2007).
Awards 2009: GMA
TobyMac won a Dove Award at the 40th GMA Dove Awards 2009 in
the category Long form music video: for "Alive and
Transported" (2008).
He was also nominated in the category Artist of the Year.
The ceremony was held on April 23rd, 2009.
Awards 2009: Grammy
TobyMac won a Grammy Award for his album "Alive And
Transported" (2008) in the category Best Rock Or Rap Gospel
Album at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards 2009. The ceremony
took place on February 8th, 2009.
Portable Sounds
TobyMac released his album "Portable Sounds" in February
2007. Portable Sounds sold 50,645 units in the first week,
making it to Number 10 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and
Number 1 on SoundScan Contemporary Christian Overall
Chart.
New project
The artist is working in the studio on a new album, which is
slated for release in February 2010.
